The effective teacher balances the demands of standardized
curriculum and the individual student’s needs by tailoring the delivery of the
information to how the student best learns.
Hughes & Roblyer (2023) suggest empowering students to be
responsible for their own learning by allowing them a choice of how they learn
material. Every student has a learning
style and teachers should use a variety of delivery methods to meet standards
and student needs.
The advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have opened up
opportunities to meet students where they’re at in their learning. According to Xhang et al. (2024) AI has
allowed companies to create Ai powered tutors that can personalize tutoring
based on how students respond to questions.
This adaptive technology allows teachers to tailor lesson plans for all
levels and styles of learning in the classroom.
In my classroom, I teach a lesson on the school’s academic
integrity policy and ways AI can and can’t be used by the students. I also include how academic dishonesty can
negatively impact their future. My role
as a freshman orientation instructor is to give them the skills to navigate
college successful and this includes how to use AI properly to help their
learning experience.
